Note the roof….this is what leads me to believe the replica at the museum was modelled after a different CP station.

Sorry Todd, I’m mistaken. The museum had come to an agreement with CP to purchase it but before they could move it she burnt. That station at the museum today is a replica.

Now…this has me wondering something. If you search this site for Arnold’s station shot of Upsala….and compare it to your photo David of it at the museum south of Thunder Bay….judging by the roof alone I would’ve have guessed that it isnt the Upsala station located there. Looks too much like – in my opinion – McKerrow (although it too is gone). Did they replace the roof when the station was moved to the museum?

Interesting info Terry. Always thought Ignace was demolished long before that.

Upsala still exists, moved to Founder’s Museum and Pioneer Village- recently renamed to Oliver Paipoonge Heritage Park, south of Thunder Bay

Arnold : Tried a few different searches, I came up with this information ;

- Ignace, ON DEMOLISHED DURING JUNE 1997
- Dryden, ON DEMOLISHED NOVEMBER 22 1989
- Upsala, ON Demolished October 14 1977

Thanks, Todd. Reasons for disappearance of a station seems to be information that is hard to come by. I’m going to check with some CP guys. Maybe they have an idea, but it has been so long ago most of those I know with the RR were still in diapers back then. )

Another one lost….I had another friend who was also a station enthusiast. If I remember correctly, when we shared our collections a few years ago he had mentioned that Ignace station came down around early to mid 90s. Maybe another member can confirm this information
…? I did a web search…which failed cause it listed the station demolition as 2020 or 2021…but that referenced a train derailment on the Ignace Subdivision.
