Comments on: Growing up my dad had many stories about family trips up the Owen Sound subdivision. A lot of time was spent in the old witch hat station eating for a connecting train for the trip to Harriston. My college Years allowed me more time to stretch my legs and check out many of the surviving branch lines as well as those recently removed. I always wanted to spend the day following CP’s “Moonlight” train but unfortunately didn’t put the effort in until rumours of CP selling the line arose. Unfortunately I missed out on the MLW years but the GP9U’s were still a decent catch. This day a pair of action red Geeps have made their way to Orangeville yard and have just begun switching the yard after a break in the old bunk house. The old 40 foot boxcar was a fixture in Orangeville yard for years, and it was sad when it finally disappeared. The bunk house too is unfortunately gone after being destroyed by fire after the OBRY take over. A nice new station was built not long after the fire and now sits on the site where the original station sat. The new station served the now discontinued Credit Valley Explorer tourist train for a number of years and also GO Transit bus service. It is sad to think that this line may fall silent for good by years end, and could even be ripped up if a new owner can not be found.

I think all of us guys lament those opportunities we passed up thinking, "another day" and before you know it, those days are gone.
