Comments on: Having a peep through the fence into the Andrew Merrilees railway supply yard in West Toronto, IREX SW1 5 (former D&LW 433, later to Stelco 5) sits parked inside amid sections of rail and other supplies for sale. Their main shop and office building is visible in the background.

A longtime resident of the West Toronto “Junction” area, Andrew Merrilees Ltd (formed 1946) sold new and used railway equipment and supplies including rails, and track components. They also bought, sold and leased small locomotives for industrial use, and had a siding off CP’s MacTier Sub. Their own reporting marks were AAMX, but they formed a US subsidiary calle Industrial Railway Equipment (IREX). The company closed down their West Toronto yard in the Summer of 2016 and the property was sold off for other uses.
