Comments on: Here is a 31 and a half year contrast with Jason Noe’s recent post of the 4784. In this photo, it has only in the last few weeks been renumbered. It’s stablemate following is still waiting for the 47′s. The units are looking very good for 15 years old. Also, as in Jason’s picture, there is a GP9 helping out in the rear. A flatcar with wooden ramps heads up an otherwise solid train of empty hoppers.

I totally agree Steve. If you can get that red/orange with zebra stripes into the right light, it is very dynamic. Definitely in the top 5 paint jobs, IMO.

Thanks Jason. When you fellows post recent photos of units which were so familiar to me back in the 80′s, that is what sends me off on a search to see what I can come up with. This one was a real good match, having a GP9 helping out as in your picture.
