Comments on: Here is an old station that has seen many railroads come and go. Yet the old Hagersville station still weathers all these years of change, for there was once the Hamilton & Lake Erie (on the left) and Michigan Central which this building faced. From GTR the line from Hamilton became CNR and currently is operated by the Southern Ontario Rwy. The old MCRR which eventually became Canada Southern (and taken over by CN/CP) was lifted sometime in the mid 1990s.

Greetings all,

I am currently involved with the Hagersville 150th Celebration ... Railway Heritage Group. Hagersville turns 150 albeit trains arrived on both lines 2 years before (1873). As such, I have been doing considerable research which brings me to this timely capture, to clarify and to seek help.

Firstly, my sources here clarify that the north track of the CASO was removed 1993 wheres the south track, in this part of the division, not until 2006.

I have been tasked to establish and/or clarify dates, details, events and developments, etc respecting local railways and trains. So we are keenly interested in heritage which becomes more difficult with passing years. We would like to gain insight into when the iconic interlocking tower was dismantled. Can anyone, on this impressive list, provide a timeline / lead / contact, etc.? Thanks!

Correct Steve, even saw a meet once. The towns folk were none too happy. I still recall a guy waiting at the crossing yelling at the crew on the caboose. I'm old.

Egads Rob - that's a great memory though, I imagine your dad took you down there to see CSX on the Caso? I wish I saw that stuff but I had other interests :) Spent my time in the GTA otherwise.

Great shot. I have a soft spot for Hagersville, going there as a youngin' hoping to see the approach-lit signal on the CASO come on. Maybe CN will use it again later this year. I can't see them using the former restaurant turned office that SOR currently uses.

This station was used for SOR until 2014 or so and I have photos of it with FEC/Rail America banners during the Fortress days.

It is languishing now but imho still has power....

SOR has relocated to a strip mall/gas station in Garnet since
