Comments on: Here is another great shot of an era long gone- the control tower at the CNR Halton sub and CPR Galt sub diamond. Since the CNR Halton sub highline was built by-passing this diamond, the tower and old freight shed became obsolete and boarded up before being torn down. Taken from my fathers collection.

Nice. The railway junction dates from 1879. The Hamilton & North Western Railway first construction train arrived in Milton December 18, 1876. The Credit Valley Railway (George Laidlaw's road) arrived in Milton late 1877 and the diamond with the H&NW was in place by 1879 when the CVR opened their line to Galt.

My understanding is that this freight shed is not the main freight shed, but was for transfer between CNR and CPR trains.

This is great. The old line, prior to creation of the Halton Sub in 1965, was the Milton Sub.

It's surprising how close the freight shed is to the diamond.
