Comments on: Here’s an angle you can’t do anymore unless you don’t mind standing on CPR police station grounds. Before they moved in you could easily shoot here, quickly, and CP 230 is arriving to make a lift before departing for Sudbury. Note the “Hamilton” sign at left and the Steel Centre trackmobile following the CP power in the distance. I shot here a few times over the years and got my fill, but doing it now is a recipie for a quick tresspassing ticket – which was raised last month to $550. Ouch.

CP 5767 was retired in February 2006 and sold to Progress Rail.

5911 is apparently stored un-serviceable.

When retired Noe? I believe the two large multis were paired in the late 2000′s in Winnipeg too. I remember seeing shots. 5911 soldiered on into 2014/2015… but not sure about the B’s.

5767 was the last active SD40-2 B-unit with a big multi. As well, it and 5911 were the last active ones to still have the big multi.

Indeed they were. We did not follow when they were all retired though, I certainly didn’t pay attention. I’d even seen that some B units were converted back…????

Marcus I believe it was $140 in June, up to $550 in July. Guess they really want people off the tracks. Don’t blame ‘em really. But it’s a very steep fine.

Wow those tickets have gone up, used to be $70 back when I started, not that I ever got one, LOL. Sure miss the old steel train and those home made “B” units.
