Comments on: High above Trout Creek, CNR 4-8-4 6200 approaches the station at St. Mary’s with Saturday only passenger train 111 bound for London, having departed Toronto Union station at 12:10h. If on the advertised the time should be 16:12h with final arrival at London at 16:45h according to 1957 employee timetables.Built by Montreal Locomotive Works and delivered in June 1942, 6200 is a U-2-g 4-8-4 and the first in an order for 35 of such locomotives. After retirement at the end of the steam era, 6200 would be donated to the National Museum of Science & Technology in Ottawa where it sits on display on the museum’s front lawn. The locomotive has recently undergone cosmetic restoration. Two other U-2-g locomotives are on display; CNR 6213 in Toronto, and CNR 6218 in Fort Erie.

Also note the baggage handler at the ready in the doorway. Can anyone make out the middle word on the baggage car, CANADIAN is at far left, NATIONAL far right…could the middle say EXPRESS?
