You’re absolutely correct cp5756. The lit markers are safer and certainly more visible than the reflective paddle stuffed into the drawbar.

Never understood why VIA decided to use the paddle terry, marker lights are far safer as you can see them for miles down the track in nearly any conditions, that’s why GO and Amtrak at least still use em
