Comments on: I barely recall taking this picture. And have forgotten the station. GO 706 is the push-power on this Burlington-bound train, as seen in the days before bi-levels. Unfortunately I did not record the power car on the lead. Anyone know when this station was removed?

Cool! This station design is pretty common, I believe the midland station is pretty similar.

Original GTR station for Oakville did look better than the modern structure showing in Arnolds shot….it was similar in design to that at Port Credit, etc. This station was built in the 60′s…possibly the last of its kind in design for the CNR. Arnold. ..your Intel as to the second station (shown in your photo) is correct. Despite modifications by Via in early 2000s…it was demolished around 2009. Todays station was built beside this building.

Nice shot! It always amazed me how such a nice city like Oakville had such an ugly station. Always wondered what happened to the original station, which had to look better then this.

I didn’t think it was ever ” removed “, simply modified several times since the mid 1980s.
