Comments on: I have always found the histories of locomotives interesting. Here we find what appears to be a leased GP38 working CN local 542. If you dig a bit deeper as well as look to the roof it reveals that the unit was indeed originally built as a GP40 for Seaboard Coast Line. The three fans on the end of the roof illustrates this, while the box on the roof in front of the dynamic brake blister shows that it has since been rebuilt into a GP38. Local 542 is seen here dropping its empties while its loads wait on the siding in the distance and well make the trip to Cambridge later in the afternoon after the crew work the industries around Guelph. Apparently GMD-1 1444 stayed in Preston this morning after suffering mechanical issues.

1444 may be in Preston, but it traces to Toronto arriving around 0640 today. Trace has been wrong before... but it appears it was scheduled to go back on 431. We'll see! Need confirmation either way.
