Comments on: I heard the horn blowing at home and looked out the back window to see an abbreviated Edmonton Auxiliary going by. Hop in the car for some pictures and as this part of the train is coming, I spy these 3 guys sitting amongst the equipment. Had to catch a photo of this. Two in chairs and the one fellow laying on a table over top of the freight truck (you can see his bare arm and jeans). What are the chances today of seeing this sort of thing? On a beautiful day like that, I would have been out there with them enjoying the breeze. Don’t know the reason why the auxiliary was called, they headed for somewhere in the Fort McMurray area. The lineup was the 4217 and 4603 up front, a flat car of snap track, coach 54957 (dozer accomodation), 57958 (auxiliary gen/comm), 54907 (flat with dozer)and 2 cabooses 79655 & 79692. They returned 4 days later, but minus coach 54957.

Thanks for trying. It looks like HQ 5-77 on the CN 54907 dozer flat so I’m guessing the baggage car would have been shopped around the same time.

I cannot make out any of those numbers Paul. Writing is to small. Even with a 15x magnifier, the only legible numbers are the same readable ones in the photo above.

Just checked and I still have it Paul. I will give those photos a touch up and send a couple your way. The 57958 was still a complete car at this time. You will see when I put the photo of it up. No cutaway on it to accommodate a boom. You and Terry stay healthy and safe also.

Hi Paul, thanks for the comment. Yes, I do have 1 other good photo from when they returned home. You can see a piece of the converted baggage car in this photo. It was almost in the realm of immaculate condition. The paint job looked very recently done. I snapped a good photo of it returning to Edmonton. Would have liked to taken the coach, but as I mentioned above, it remained up north and never did see it again. Stay tuned for car 57958 coming to an RP.ca near you.
The sun on the day of the picture above was in the wrong part of the sky. The shot I took of the entire consist is pretty dark with shade.
