Comments on: I left this image on the shelf for quite a while because everything was marked on it but the location, for some strange reason. But I am convinced it was shot from Industrial Rd looking north in Smithville. The industrial area has changed, as a new building is going up (expansion of Stanpac, Inc)on the left where that large structure used to be. TH&B 401, 403 and 77 are westward, destination Hamilton; and this is most likely a very late train out of Buffalo, crossing at the Falls. It was rare that I caught a Hamilton-bound train thru this area; they mostly ran at night.

The scene has definitely changed! I will agree with that. I've spent a couple late nights here attempting night shots of TE21 (Welland Yard night crew) when they're switching boxcars out of that Thrift/Furniture store on the NW side of the crossing, but have concluded based on how poorly all of my attempts turned out that the distance to the switch and the direction of the switch make it not really conducive for night shots and have subsequently given up. Thought it would have made for an interesting catch of a little known and even less seen move.

Thanks for the verification. A lot of times the scene changes so drastically I forget where the heck I took a photo, since I usually only mark the community name.

This is definitely Industrial Road looking north, if you have any lingering doubts about the location. Saw it in the "one of our best images" banner at the top, and knew the location before I even clicked the image. Great image.

I wonder, did the TH&B crews prefer the 400's leading (long hood forward), or the 70's (short hood forward)?
