Comments on: I like this picture because you can see how the Grand Trunk, in 1890, straightened the alignment of the former Great Western Railway that they purchased when this bridge was built. The left bridge was built in 1867 (and was the 2′nd bridge at this location). I am not sure why the GWR changed the alignment of their line just to jog it around the Jordan Harbour but cost must have been an issue. However,while the subject locomotive, the Grand Trunk Western inspired 8952 crosses over the Jordan Harbour on a beautiful spring day, the truth is the GT unit and the Grand Trunk Western is not inspired by the former British headquartered Grand Trunk, it’s named after the 1971 consolidated and spun off American lines in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois to which the Burkadin Blue paint scheme was created for. A loose association at best in name only to any Canadian assets, but would be far more at home in their US lines. But who is to complain about a nice painted locomotive in a location such as this – not me – this is quickly becoming one of my favourite spots.

Exactly, nothing double stacked or too high (tri-levels). Leaving the 8952 for us to view. There is even exhaust blowing off the top, almost like this scene was made to order.
