Comments on: I visited my Aunt and Uncles on Strachan St. E a few times as a kid and I was definitely interested in the trains that rolled by.. which would have been the late 80′s and early to mid 90′s. Of course I didn’t take photos. The ‘hood’ is growing up and money is pouring into the formerly inexpensive housing in the area thanks to the GO station nearby, and at the end of Strachan I found this vantage point. My Aunt and Uncle on this side of my family are both no longer with us sadly, but I still visit the area on occasion.

This hood is cleaning up nicely, and quickly I may add. But just a stone throw away is Barton and Centre mall.. that area hasn't changed all that much:

I suspect proximity to the station and the waterfront has all to do with it.. any homes on Strachan are just minutes (2-3?) to the GO station. A nice piece of land and the homes were under 100 grand not all that long ago... now they are 200 to 300 I believe!

This is a real find. Try as I may, scouring this scene, I do not notice any syringes, street gang paraphernalia or even shell casings littering the area. Hard to believe it is Hamilton. :o) Things definitely must be on the upswing. Very nice!!
