Comments on: I was going through my photos the other day when I found this gem in the rough – after all, by this point it had been about 10 years already that the railways stopped using their vans. Computer technology had come of age so to speak in the way of a little box that put these icons out to pasture. Here, in the yard at Brantford, van 79482 sits neglected and vandalised. I wonder if kids will ever be as excited as I once was to wait and see the caboose at the end of a long freight?

This van is now owned by Waterloo Central Railway. It has had modification to carry passengers- more seats,windows ect. All cleaned up and looks good

I was driving on Hwy24 today and just near Cambridge there is an old CN van like this one being used as an ice cream shop. It badly needs a paint job but still nice to see one of these old vans around.

The conical item is a takeoff for an axle generator. The driveshaft has been removed.
