Comments on: I wish this image of Beamsville’s long forgotten CN station was a little better, but it is certainly better than nothing at all……..rather elusive building as I have not been able to find any other photos of it so far. At the time I think there was a lumber business located on the near end. The building was on the south side of the tracks just off Ontario St., and I believe it was demolished in early 1976. Extension on the right probably a fruit shed, as the local freights stopped at all the stations along the peninsula during harvest season and since roads were poor and trucks unreliable as a result, the railroad handled most all of the perishables shipping. Not until the QEW was completed @1939 did trucking make inroads, and once it did, the demise of the local fruit train was imminent.

I am quite sure the old station was on the South side of the tracks whereas this new metal building is on the North side. There is still evidence of that close track in the photo, a few ties remain. About 4 months ago I pulled in here to have a look around and following me was the CN police. I am now in their books. :o(

Very nice. I pulled out a photo of what's there today, at least there is still a structure. It's debatable if what remains was part of the original site structures (freight shed) but if I ever have a chance to get inside.. I will.
