Comments on: If this old telephone pole could talk, I can only imagine the stories it could tell. It has seen the transition from steam to diesel, the passage of countless trains, not just over CN’s line but the once mighty double track Canada Southern that has since faded into history. Trains from not just CN but also Conrail, Penn Central, New York Central, CASO, Amtrak, CSX, Chessie System, C&O and Pere Marquette just to name a few have all hammered through the diamonds once located to the right of this old pole with its severed communication wires. It has out lasted both CN and CASO stations once located here as well as the old tower that once protected the junction. This day GMTX 2277 (a former Long Island RR GP38) rests with the rest of its consist briefly while its crew take a break in the new office after a run from Brantford. In a little while the power will take a cut of empty centre beams north to an industry north of town.
