Comments on: I’ll bite – With the recently Bruce Lowe photo of transformers coming from ABB in Guelph (now Skyjack) I’m reminded of My similar photo but I pulled this photo off to show the Junction of the Guelph City Spur today (would have branched to the right with switch at left). Bruce was a friend of ours in Guelph and he told us stories of how CN switch crews used to park here (or on the Guelph City Spur) to get lunch at the Royal City Buffet (Chinese) restaurant, still operating today. I took my wife and kid (one at the time) here in 2009 and all I can say is everything is deep fried and a vegetable is rare. Anyway, CN has returned to the property, but just prior to Bruce’s photo in 2002 there were a few MOW buildings on site that were removed around 2001. Now CN’s plopped an empty? trailer on the land, I suppose to exert their private property rights? Seems they do this at various former station sites all over and I’m not sure why – Paris Station also comes to mind. Are they for a purpose?

Nice. Here's a shot from 1972 showing those MoW structures: https://guelph.pastperfectonline.com/photo/EB3A360F-7F45-4658-A746-781272022800

Notice the switch being worked on in the foreground. I'm fairly certain that is the realigned siding XV16 being installed for Pirelli Cable, whose spur originally came of the City Spur.
