Comments on: In a failed attempt at a time machine shot (of Bruce Mercer’s photo) of the CP in action, I was able to capture CEFX 1045 in the lead this day entering Chatham at Princess Street. Notable changes – the tower at the interchange with the C&O is long gone, as is the diamond itself. Also gone too is the train order signal that is shown back in the distance on Bruce’s photo. Only true way of marking such a photo is the telephone poles that still remain. No re-attempt here – “No Trespassing” signs have been posted by the CP as well as curious onlookers from the tenants of the house (out of photo) to the right of me.

That is definitely the same telephone pole and also the same antenna tower in the background Todd. Which to me, certainly ties the two photo's together. From my point of view it seems the criteria is to perspective based rather than content. How many times, when comparing pictures, do you find that the people will be saying "is that old whatever in the newer photo too". A lot of us tend to relate or identify by what has been added and what has been removed, as time goes by. :-)
