Comments on: In Alberta’s foothills of the Rocky Mountains, natural gas extraction and related sulphur production became a significant industry. One plant served by CN via the Brazeau sub. from near Red Deer and then the Ram River sub. had an ALCo (78939 of 1951-08) RS-3 ex Reading 524 as the plant switcher, shown here on Friday 1978-09-15 on its shoptrack conveniently near the sulphur loadout.

Stephen: DL has at least three ex-D&H RS3 units (one came from YDHR). There was a historical society in the US that repatriated one of the former URS ex-Reading units (485?) from a paper mill in northern Ontario for preservation.

I recall CZ 4097 went to WCRA in Squamish, but was later scrapped as they already had the PGE 561 as a true Canadian unit in the collection.

DL in Scranton, PA uses a few of these on the regular. One of the few that still does, looks like LAL got rid of what remained of theirs unfortunately.

One of a bunch of ex-Reading RS3's acquired and resold by dealer United Railway Supply out of Cartierville QC. Crown Zellerbach 4097 (ex-D&H) also came to Canada via URS.
