Comments on: In another view of a warm Summer’s afternoon on St. Clair Avenue, TTC PCC 4549 (A8-class, CC&F 1951 – the final new PCC built for Toronto) heads eastbound on St. Clair Avenue East past Inglewood Drive, approaching Mount Pleasant Road where it will turn and head north up to Eglinton Loop at the end of the St. Clair route. The long bridge spanning the Yellow Creek ravine can be seen in the background, and further back the office towers and highrises of midtown Toronto (Yonge & St. Clair).

TTC 4549, the last car of the final order of PCC’s built new for Toronto (4500-4549) would keep rolling in her original number, through a rebuild program where she would be restored to her as-delivered appearance, until retirement of the remaining PCC’s in the mid-90′s. Most of the rebuilt cars were sold off, but 4500 and 4549 would be kept as part of the TTC’s historic fleet.
