Comments on: In its last months of operation, CP train No. 21 makes its station stop at Guelph Junction behind a pair of steam-generator equipped RS10s units. Come April 26 (1964), the conventional train will be replaced by RDCs west of Toronto (it continued as an overnight train between Montreal and Toronto for a couple more years). Westbound No. 21 departed Toronto at 8:30 AM and had a flag stop at Guelph Jct at 9:37; it’s eastbound counterpart No. 22 was still a named train in the timetable, “the Overseas”, departing Detroit at 4:25 PM, Guelph Jct at 9:05 PM and arriving Toronto at 10:20 PM.

What a great picture ! Not many slides of CPR trains 21 and 22 when they were conventional equipment. These trains had a through sleeper to/from Montreal for Windsor and Detroit, switched at Toronto Union Station.First ride on #21 was with John Mills in March 1955 to Galt from West Toronto to ride the GRR/LE&N before interurban car service ended at the end of April, 1955. We rode in a 2200 series coach, remember stopping at Puslinch station to drop off some mail sacks from the RPO (2nd car in the picture above). Many thanks for posting.
