<title>Comments on: In the mid-late 2000&#8242;s VIA Rail had amassed quite a collection of old and neat stuff at its Toronto Maintenance Centre, most of which was in between owners. On a trip to the Islington Avenue overpass one afternoon, our telephoto lens captured some of the goodies hiding at the west end of the TMC: a 5-pack of ex-VIA RDC cars sold to FarmRail but never shipped (stored here for many years, apparently VIA later repossessed them for back payments owed for storage and sold them off to the VHA and Waterloo Central). There&#8217;s the tail end of the three retired LRC locomotives hiding out here (6914, 6919 and 6917: two later scrapped, one preserved) and some of the former Waterloo St. Jacob tourist train equipment now owned by the WCRA (coach 5569, and FP9&#8242;s 6508 &amp; 6520, all stenciled WCXX). The WCRA purchased both F-units, but after years of storage here they sold 6508 sold off to Ontario Southland to help fund moving the 6520 to their museum in Squamish BC). I recall all of the other former WSt.J equipment was still around the previous year just prior to dispersal to other purchasers. And then there was the old former Metra gallery cars (not pictured) that AMT purchased but derailed at Aldershot enroute and sustained some damage (they too sat around the TMC until most of them were cut up for scrap on site in 2007 or 2008).In the background of industrial New Toronto/Mimico is the old National Silicates plant (closed in 2023 after 92 years in business and demolished), and the former Gilbey&#8217;s Distillery warehouse. And based on the angle, I think those condos are in the Mississauga area around Square One.</title>
