Comments on: In what was a daily occurrence back then, the CR transfer has just come over from Buffalo and dropped traffic at the west end of the Fort Erie yard. It will then run east after switching to an open track and pick up traffic bound for the USA.
I liked to catch this job before the power was painted into Conrail colours. CR 7431, 3813 and 6820 is the consist on this day. Note the middle loco is a “B” unit (no cab). There were about 20 or so of these GP9B units, but I had rather miserable luck in catching many of them.

This picture reminds me of a debate I had years ago with a Conrail modeler in MI. He claimed that none of the CR/PC/PRR GP b units ever ran into Canada, I've now seen 2 pictures that show that they did.
He also claimed that none of the Conrail predecessor roads operated their Baldwin or FM units into Canada. Does anyone know if they did in fact make forays across the border?

I kinda like the GP9 b's with their big porthole windows. :-) I see they came with class lights too, I wonder if they were ever used or needed?
