Comments on: Interesting day at the Lower Don Yard, at that time home to the SW1200RS ( CN 1300′s ) with the GMD 567C series engine

On a hot and humid Saturday Cab units CN 9177 – 9195 – 9175: GMD F7Au – GMD F7Bu – GMD F7u await the next transfer service assignment

Delivered to CN during 1951-52 by GMD with numbers: 9088 – 9095 – 9132

all retired by 1989 with 9177 to NRE by November 1990 and on to …..

May 17, 1987 Kodachrome by S.Danko

what’s interesting

lower Don Yard is now part of Toronto Waterfront Revitalize Corporation ‘ West Don Lands Precinct Plan’ and today remnants of any railway use is gone….near this site in the early 1980′s on the way home I would stop and watch the CPR daily local job’s MLW S-3 ( 6500 series ) kicking box cars through the crossing to the loading docks parallel to Front Street (south side), east of Cherry Street.

and per AWM and SCH:

Some of these F unit’s were part of the regular Nanicoke power

[Currently – autumn 2020 ] CN 9177 down on the Shenandoah Valley Railroad in Staunton, VA as of January 2020. Stored

[ and in 2020, ex CN9177 is located at ] Cresson Steel in PA waiting for a buyer… SOU 9177 is current reporting marks.. (was to be rebuilt by NS, not happening now)

Nice to see some old CN Fs show up on these pages again!! I did see the (RPCX) 9177 down in Staunton this past January. Looks rough, but not THAT rough. I hope it was acquired to head out on the rails again someday.
