Comments on: It seems that the more interesting liveries – paint schemes – have shortened lifespans * .

Hard to believe but the white on black (with red nose) CN passenger livery life was a short fifteen years, replaced April 25, 1976 by the first VIA CN timetable ** and the corresponding yellow on blue VIA CN livery. The exception being the VIA CN Turbo train, painted blue on yellow. (The first time I saw the newly repainted VIA CN Turbo that paint reminded me of the Union Pacific!). Fortunately it took some time to get the CN fleet repainted – so witness here VIA CN Tempo train #81 cruising through Bayview Junction in May 1977 in full CN passenger livery (all south west Ontario VIA CN trains were ‘Tempo’ irregardless of the actual equipment assigned). Kodachrome by S.Danko.

How times change, when the CN Police simply provided a friendly wave to the Bayview Jct fans! (Perhaps that is YOU on the RBG Laking Garden Bridge ? ! )

( * another example shortened livery lifespan: the C&O/B&O Chessie Cat livery was replaced after fourteen short years).

( ** the final Canadian National – Canadien National System Timetable is dated October 26, 1975).
