Comments on: It sure was a tragic loss of locomotive paint scheme variety in Niagara with the demise of NS 327/328 in the late 2000s. Evident by this lashup almost anything could be seen. Heading Stateside is NS 8312, formerly Conrail 6047, with Ontario Northland 1733 the trailing unit. NS ‘white patched’ the unit numbers under the cab until there was an appointment at the black paint shop.

Amazing combo! NS actually leased a bunch of ONR SD40's back then. I have a photo somewhere on the entire group being returned. One even led the Roadrailer states side.

It was a sad day indeed when over a thousand jobs were lost with the closing of that Talbotville Plant. So long as the current government keeps on target of raising the costs of doing business in Ontario, especially with the continual upward spiral of artifically induced hydro rates, there is little hope for economic recovery. Robbins was a good place for meets for many years.

One of my favourite trains as a kid, especially when it was still on the Cayuaga Sub going through Cornith or Aylmer or Tillsonburg. Saw a few meets at Robbins of 327/328 too. The train meant a lot to our family and community as family and friends worked at St Thomas Ford Plant.

Yeah. I miss the NS train bigtime as well. There was anything tacked on the head end of those trains. Once got a meet at Grimsby of 328/327 and four units represented 4 roads. Unreal.

Man, how I miss the NS. Anything was possible on this train, and I mean anything. My first ever photo of a train was of 327 with 2 Union Pacific's and the usual NS unit.
