Comments on: It’s a gloomy, rainy day in Port Colborne as CN GP9 4577 works the east end of the yard at Nickel, crossing Durham Street heading back to the northern yard tracks along the Dunnville Sub mainline. According to a car control diagram, the yard tracks south of Durham St. that 4577 is coming back from are INCO-switched plant trackage, so the unit was likely interchanging some inbound INCO traffic. In the background, the towers of Lift Bridge 21 (Clarence St.) and 20 (CN Dunnville Sub) can be seen spanning the Welland Canal. The Dunnville Sub was abandoned and removed by CN a few years later in the mid-80′s, and a small portion here survives at the end of the CN Humberstone Spur (Yager to Nickel (Port Colborne)) to service the Vale Canada (former INCO) plant.
