Comments on: It’s been a slow and bitter cold morning for railfanning, and while waiting for TR 1859, I ended up in Port Rob to catch what I believe is CN 530, a local job that brings cars from the Port Robinson yard to Feeder. 5671 was one of the units on CN 421 that morning. The other units will bring cars to Fort Erie for interchange. This train always runs long hood forward to Feeder yard.

562 is the day yard job, switching out 421, and building 531 and 563. Sometimes advances 531 to fort erie. 563 is the afternoon job running to southern yard (welland tube, CP interchange) and feeder yard (trillium) and return. 564 is the night job running to fort erie and return and building 422. 531 like Phil said is the South Buffalo turn, running there as 531 and return as 530. 539 is the Frontier yard (CSX) job, running there as 539 and return as 538. Both these jobs work fort erie as well. 562/3/4 are full crews, while 531/530 and 539/538 are conductor only (no brakeman). This is why their ID's change with direction ( I believe, Phil?)

Now its been a couple years but this was the design previously and could have changed recently. :)

Based on discussion here, this was probably 562 both ways to/from Feeder.

531 is Port Rob to B&P Buffalo, 530 is B&P Buffalo to Port Rob, and neither of these trains would work at Feeder.

I'd think it ran back as 531, Then what's the deal with 562 Because I know 562 runs to the feeder yard also.

No 530 returns as 531. It runs from Pt. Rob to the B&P in Buffalo and return.

Thanks for the clarification. For whatever reason I didn't think that place was still open.

The bulkheads carry drill pipe to various locations in western canada and are used exclusivly by Welland Tube. Tenaris Algoma Tubes in the Sault uses gondola's with wood stakes above the car top.

Greg, this one had about 35 cars on it. This must be 562 then, I honestly get all the ID's of the trains from Pt. Rob all mixed up. And I have no idea where the bulkheads are from or go
