Comments on: It’s funny the things you remember. 9303 on a Sunday afternoon, towing fresh power for 142 out of Woodstock arrives at Killean in a miserable mood based on the conversations with the RTC. They had a sea of empty racks behind them to fill up Killean Siding….and had to spilt the Dobbie Dr crossing meaning the hogger would have to open the west switch. Then, having more racks to back up the Waterloo Sub (for all this was in the days when Wolverton was just a siding) which meant crossing Hespeler Rd several times to peddle them out…flagging the crossing with the nightmares that entailed. I was more intrigued by the SD90 having more than double the horsepower of the trailing units combined. This was my only encounter when one was leaving.

Hey Ben, that was a mainline siding. A couple to a few trains a day would meet there every day until the 2010′s. Six axles are still not prohibited and used it last winter

I’m surprised they were even allowed to bring that into the siding since most of the rail in that siding is 1940s 100lbs.

There were 4 true 6600 hp SD90MACs. They were a disaster for everyone who bought them. UP downrated theirs to 4400 hp IIRC, but none lasted very long. They wee the beginning of the wend for EMD

Sure wish I could have heard the big 4cycle bark of the exhaust. You fellows were there, any comments on that. Also, they were the only SD90′s on CP with that bevel on the long hood. Nice photo Kevin.

There were only a couple of these if I recall correctly. Most were numbered 9100s. The early prototypes of the ACUs.
