Comments on: JLCX 3502, a GP35 formerly of the Denver and Rio Grande, has its gyrolight rotating while the crew close the gate on WP Warehousing’s property. The GIO crew will return to the N&ST Spur and head back toward the Grimsby sub to cross over onto the Thorold spur. Formerly known as the Grantham Subdivision in the CN days, in the GIO days this line was officially called, on their timetable and paperwork the N&ST Spur. This locomotive was returned to JLCX and is no longer being used by GIO. What a treat this was to hear this thing working though, I enjoy any EMD with a turbo.

3502 was at LDS for joint inspection and return so no longer a GIO unit. J&L Consulting contracted LDS to modernize the unit : rewired (60 year old wires in that environment break down..!) de-turboed, new control system along with many other improvements. It's now a GP38-3 headed to Dow in Prentiss AB.

The Amber Beacon also seems to have been removed.

Gio suffered many issues with this unit during its time here. I think it was sidelined more so than not. Nice to have a colourful unit here for once though.

Historic photo in many respects. One correction though, that’s just an amber beacon, not a gyro-light. Gyro-lights were in the headlight housing.
