Comments on: Job 2 turning on the wye in St. Patricks Ward, which is the spur leading to Owens Corning. Passing the interesting homes along Sackville st with literally no front yard except a road and a railway, a bloom of purple and white forget me nots accentuate the scene. 182′s smoking about as much as it usually did, which was not much, it was a fairly clean burner.

Stephen, it did indeed. 6301 moved slowly, so if it were kept at Guelph Jct,, it would have taken half-a-day just to get to work in Guelph. I looked up my notes for “Steam on the Move” Vol 1 - CPR and the movie was taken Sat Jan 26, 1957, not in 1958. Also this wye was used by gas-electric 9004 to turn around on its shuttle runs between Guelph and Guelph Jct., as was CP 2-8-2 5214 on Sept 8, 1958 deputizing for 9004. Plans are to make available Steam on the Move CPR on a disc or stick if interested. John

I was here on Friday, GJR just cleared a bunch of trees in the centre of the wye near each switch. A number of ties from the old spur running into the centre of the wye from Alice Street can still be found.

Very nice picture Stephen, love the colours, the forget-me-nots add such a nice touch. Like the flowers say, OSR in this setting will not be forgotten. This wye is no stranger to me, but it has been ages since I took 8mm movies of 6301 at the same location. Yup, it belonged to the same company as did 182, the CPR. To clarify, 6301 was a fussy 0-6-0 that lived in Guelph in 1958 ! Thanks for posting, John

This is a cool angle at an interesting location. I was curious, so I checked out the street view in the area - between this shot and what the Google car spotted, I'm guessing close-clearance parking is sometimes an issue?
