Comments on: Just a few miles out of St. Catharines; NS autoparts train #328 rolls eastward. The Niagara area thru most of the early 1900s was THE fruit growing capital of Canada. Local trains stopped at every community, in season baskets of soft fruit were loaded in boxcars. By hand. Until the later days of pallets and, eventually; the railside activity ceased.. What is left in the peninsula is now shipped by truck. All the storage buildings along the way have been dismantled and sidings pulled out. In this view, you see the very last of those structures, and now this one is gone as well. Interesting the sharp bright paint on this lead locomotive, a Warbonnet paint that must have been one of the last to get painted in that scheme. BNSF 769 and NS 8741 were photographed from the 9th St Louth overpass on a rather nice morning.

Ninth st. According to google earth, it was there in 2007, and gone by 2009.
