Comments on: Just the other day I posted an image of CP 4066 powering the “Canadian” out of West Toronto en route to Sudbury, and one of our experienced hawk-eyed viewers noticed a Business Car on the tail end. And since information on this business car was gratefully submitted it was best I offer up a photo of this CP “Ontario” car.
I was told: “It was built by CP in October of 1927 as the “Mount Royal”. It became CP “Ontario” in October 1969 and reverted back to the original name Mount Royal in 1989. This business car #73 carried the initials STLH in the 1990s as it was part of the St. Lawrence & Hudson division of CP in that time frame.”
Ninety two years have gone by and this car is still in service as part of the Royal Canadian Pacific tour series. The car is kept on hand at Calgary, Alberta.
In this photo the train is just crossing the diamond at West Toronto heading north. I rather like the old phone box in the scene. Another relic of the past.

I was thinking the same as "railwayguy" above. The Toronto-Sudbury Park car usually operated from 15 June to 15 Sept. Perhaps it was added a little late that year - maybe the day after this photo was taken. By this time the summer Canadian was much shorter than it had been until 1970. From my recollection the two sleepers ex-Toronto in June was increased to three by July. The same short consist was on the Montreal section. We took a Toronto-Vancouver trip in July 1976 and there were only five sleepers plus Park car west of Sudbury.

Mr. Mooney, classic picture, but where is the Park car ? By the date this picture was taken, I believe the Park observation dome car only operated on #11 to Sudbury in the summer month, so outside July & August it was possible to tack Ontario on the tail end when someone “higher up” was travelling to Sudbury. When there was a Park car on the rear and a business car was travelling, it was right behind the head end power, Thanks for this.

Reminds me of that photo of a business car in "Train Country". The CP Rail logo looks surprisingly in place on that car.

Thanks for this!!! I used to see the business car "Lacombe" a number of times, behind the head end power, as I recall, but no idea what ever happened to it.

A beauty. It was also great being trackside and seeing a Business Car riding the tail-end of a passenger train. You have captured a moment of history here. Great photo.
