Comments on: Keeping the ore moving
It’s early in the morning and we’re getting the equipment ready to head out for a day of plowing and sweeping in the yard at Port Cartier, QC.
43-year-old (at the time) QCM X-23 is a Jordan Type A spreader serial No. 899, built in 1960. It is equipped with a medium front blade with custom upper snow curls, straight side wings, custom cab, raised rear platform, and diesel-powered hydraulic control cylinders.
Brand new (at the time) QCM P-722 is a Nordco M2-14 ballast regulator/snow fighter, serial No. 800208, built in 2003.
I always enjoyed working with the folks at the Cartier Railway.
At the QCM main shop complex in Port Cartier QC November 13, 2003.

Thanks Mike. I was very fortunate over my many years in the industry to have unfettered access to areas not usually available to non-railroaders.
It's unfortunate that many of the restricted area shots I took over the years will never make it to RP. Keep an eye on my Flickr page for more. :-)

3,000 or more hp behind the spreader, 300 hp in the snow fighter. The spreader wins.
Yeah Arnold, I was built 7 years before the spreader. :-)

Nice comparison, although I think the X-23 is the big pusher.
