Comments on: Lead unit New England Central 9539 was on GEXR for a few months. It arrived in Nov 1998 and was renumbered to 3856 in April of 1999. Interesting power on this train. NECR 9539, CN 9633, 9643 (leased) and GP 9 GEXR 901 the trailing unit. I’m guessing only that the GP9 and lone car was being taken down to drop at Shantz (a few miles east) and then the 3 mainline units would go back into Kitchener to pick up their train. Someone that knows the ins and outs of the GEXR probably could explain this better. The view from a clearing I had hacked out by the bridge I notice by google maps is now all housing development in the former open field, and no doubt the trees are up now, taking away this interesting angle from the photographer.

This is the shot........ Arnold that I had to do some clearning with to make it possible... a much smaller window of opening

http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=44641

there's the codeline that should be right above where you're standing in yours.

Took a while but I managed to get about 5 shots here before the railing went up kind of ruining it.

That's allright. There was a lot of new industry created around the time of GEXR startup. Shantz came in 2003.. Bio-Pro came in around 2001-2002 (became Traxxside).. PDI also around the same time..

And there's more coming.. new industry is being built near Acton (By the detector - where I've photographed by Highway 7) and track is already in place.

I had no idea about Shantz. I thought it had been there for a long time, under another name.
