Comments on: Leaving Lethbridge, running southeast, about half way toward Stirling on Hwy 4 near the crossroads of Hwy 4 and 845 is known in railroad terms as Wilson Siding. Here the sprawling Transmark facility is located. Its now 55 track, 120 acre site runs parallel with the CP Taber Sub which it interchanges with. Transmark is into a lot: trans loading, rail car repairs, rail car storage; various shipping is handled here, as in supplies to the cattle feed industry and other bulk commodities. There is enough track here for 1300 rail cars. Three locomotives are also said to be on the site; but I was only able to locate one of them, conveniently working alongside Hwy 4. This former ATSF 7495, a GE B36-7 now Transmark 3612, certainly was a refreshing change from the grubby CP we had been seeing along the way. In this view, the train had stopped and was about to shove back into the grain elevator area one can see in the background. I scurried over to the “sunny” side for this image; and was rather surprised to see, when I got back to the car, what looked like a security vehicle coming up alongside the unit.
