Comments on: Long ago silliness. Spotted this while wandering on my first regular day off work in 1977. The switcher in the background was likely working Waxmans (scrapper) which is in the background on the right. This is where the Stoney Creek WalMart is located today. The track veering off to the right was once the beginning of the CN Beach sub. It was reduced to a stub in the early 70s when the infamous Stoney Creek (QEW) traffic circle was removed. The Beach Sub at the time was elevated over that circle and ran to a connection with the CN Oakville sub just a hair east of the old Freeman Station by Brant St in Burlington.

I was here today - had to visit the nearby establishment prior to a family gathering. Amazing how this has changed. I photographed a train here once.. and it's not a half bad photo, I shall post it some day - photo's from 2006 before they changed the character of it with the underpass project around 2012 or so..
