Comments on: Long nose forward GP9 CNR 4599 is heading west across the Welland Canal Lift Bridge #20 and the green Third Canal 1887 Swing Bridge (in fixed location since 1929). Masonry stone cut walls of the Third Canal contrast with the Concrete poured walls of the 4th Canal. Destination, Maple Leaf Mills (MLM). Storm clouds on the horizon yielded a brief moment to get this shot before the down burst came

Thanks for posting this shot. I grew up in the Port. We had a lot of rail traffic in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. CN and TH&B. It particularly exciting during the downline tunnel construction when the NYC passenger trains were re-routed from Canville to Fort Erie.
