Comments on: M for Magnificent.

On a cool, breezy and mainly cloudy early April 1980 Saturday a typical uninteresting Galt Subdivison afternoon, developed into an Alcophile’s delight.

On the approach to Campbellville – on the grade up the Escarpment – CP Rail extra 4723 west ( with 4550 ) stalled when #4723 shut down. With 4723′s train blocking level crossings and with CP 4710 west following closely, extra 4723 west was unable to double the hill. ( At this time it was ABS territory, CTC to be installed at a later date ). Westbound 4710 ( with 4727 – 4717 ) crew cut off their train – near Hornby – running light to extra 4723 west’s caboose ( #434525 ), coupled on and after some radio chatter commenced pushing extra 4723 west up the hill through Campbellville onto Guelph Junction. Second shot in the sequence of four, near Canyon Road. April 1980 Kodachrome by S.Danko.

More big M’s at work :
