Comments on: Making their once a week trip down the Torbram Lead to service 4 of the last 7 rail customers between here and the Bramalea Buisness Park right by Queen and Airport ;only a couple blocks from CN’s Brampton Intermodel Yard actually. CN L559 is shown reversing across the busy 5 lane Torbram Road crossing right near Steels Ave as they push today’s freight from MacMillian Yard up to the Buisness Park to service the customers. Powering today’s train was actually a pair of leased blue GATX geeps and if you look at the stripes right above the trucks just before the blue paint, you can notice that the lead unit 2163 actually has a yellow stripe going across like most ordinary CN geeps while the second unit 2289 still has a ordinary white one like most GATXs. Wonder what CNs long-term plan is to do with these GATXs in terms of potentially repainting them into red and white CN or keeping them the way they are and returning them to their original owner when the lease expires? Guess only time will tell, only time will tell.

Ya that’s true Brad but in my personal opinion: unless they are so dirty where a rail employee can’t reliably read the labels or so rusted where they rust is starting to have an effect on the locomotives performance, would really see any other reason why CN would consider spending the $ to give em a repaint.
Good luck with the project on modeling a blue GATX gp38, something I think I may wanna try as well myself.

Yes Graydon.. and there have been some pretty good models reflecting the CN GP38-2's. This is not a Model Railroad site so I won't go into detail there. But the GP38-2's seem to be pretty beat up looking. THe 'zebra stripes' looking red? How come the GMD-1's are looking sharp? Possibly a rebuild process garners a paint job fix up? Great shot again, and I hope to model one of these GATX units soon! :)

Thank you for the comments Jason and Brad and interesting thought with with the repainting Brad but... as a model railroader yourself I’m sure you know why many people in the model railroading hobby like to weather their trains? Cause the rail railway don’t store their stuff in garages overnight so therefore real locomotives/rolling stock are always exported to the elements 24/7. So if they got a fresh new coat, will only be a matter of time before they got dirty again so in terms of CN repainting, odds are they’ll choose their blue geeps first if of course they intend to keep em long term and want them to match their company Colours,

They seem to look the best when they are in solid sets like this vs in with CN units. Nice angle Graydon.

Actually Graydon, CN should get around to repaint their own GP38-2's as they are looking worse for wear as seen in todays shot posted by Jason Noe: http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=41383
