Comments on: Many local residents of the town of Palmerston watch the rail removal process as several pieces of CN track equipment were slowly following the rail train as the crew worked to remove pieces and loosen sections of the rail for the retrieval process. Earlier that day, the rail train had gone through the town for the last time and was powered by CN GP9RM’s 4115 and 4140. During April 1996, CN had removed the last sections of the Newton and Owen Sound Subdivisions that remained between Harriston and Stratford.

This brand new machine is CN 666-01, a Fairmont Tamper model W113-E26 dual spike puller, with serial number 257090, built in early 1996. I last saw this unit at CN's Mac Yard work equipment complex in Concord, ON on January 30, 2020.
