Comments on: More of a historical image than artistic effort, this scene at the yard and turntable in Timmins is but a distant memory. In this image we see ONR 1519, as well as four paint varieties of 40 ft boxcars; one of which is wooden and probably served as a storage car back then. And the heavyweight coach could have been a Kitchen Car. I’d be interested if anyone could tell me what year the line into Timmins was torn up. Passenger service from Timmins to Porquis Jct ended at the startup of the Northlander in late 1977. The rail station still survives as a bus terminal.

On the subject of Porky Jct I must admit I was dumbfounded when, arriving at the location back in 1995 or so only to find the beautiful modern brick station had vanished. Must have been demolished. Hard to fathom tearing down such a nice place and replacing it with those crappy modular buildings...

Interesting how they ran a shuttle train from Timmins to the jct with an engine and a car or two.. the transit time couldn't have been all that long!
