Comments on: Morning train powered by CN 5355, 4124 and 4110 has just departed Niagara Falls yard and heading toward Hamilton. In this view, it has just crossed Stanley Av at Whirlpool. Prominent in the background is the complex Chateau Gai Winery, a landmark for many years. What you see in this image has all been razed; and it is now the location of Allen’s Lumber and Landscaping. Not sure if it is still in business. The long load of pipe I am guessing came from Welland Pipe, and if memory serves me right (it frequently falters!) this pipe was headed for Alberta.

Yes I think it is a scanner. I have noticed it when riding the G O train. I think it is out of service and is covered with vines now.

No, unfortunately. Time goes so darn fast to me that if I say "5 years ago" it probably is 10. :o)
Last time I actually saw service on that track you mention was back when I was shooting #328 at CN Grimsby mile 2.8; so thats been awhile.

Arnold, do you know when CN stopped servicing that industry? The trackage is amazingly still there.
