Comments on: My disappointment in the NS 9-1-1 leaving Buffalo was shortlived when I found out something very new was now making the transfer rounds. NS 6224, just delivered June 2021 in bright shiny paint..”going green”…one of a group of 15 new SD33ECO units rebuilt from SD40-2 locos. The 6224 was once CR 3445. EPA Tier 3 emissions standards are met. In the series, these 3,000 HP units 6210-6214 & 6218 are assigned to the Macon, Georgia area; 6125-6217, 6219-6223 to the Atlanta, Georgia area and this; the first release since 12-2018 is assigned to the Buffalo area. (There is a small state map on the flank). The locomotives are partially funded with federal and state grants. Here’s hoping we see this and possibly future units on the early evening transfers to Fort Erie. I thank Paul O’Shell for digging up for me this information provided.
