Comments on: Near the summer solstice in 2018 I took my chances on the GEXR 584 departing with enough light to shoot and I got lucky. I kept chasing all the way to Elmira to see what I could do. When it gets dark you have to pray the train stops, and somewhere good – this was where they stopped and in the brief minute or two of the train being motionless I was able to capture this scene. They are switching Lanxess in Elmira, crazy winds had blown over the municipal garbage bins earlier in the day – at least they weren’t on the tracks.
