Comments on: Nearly new (3 months old at the time) CN SD50F units 5453 and 5450 lead C630M 2036 on a westbound freight, coming off the Halton Sub at Burlington West (note the added “West” sign).

The new full-bodied Draper-Taper cowl units, CN’s second SD50F order from GMD, were still being built with EMD’s 645F engine despite EMD already introducing the 710G in the SD60 model three years earlier (and CN ordering 4 prototype SD50AF units equipped with the 710G two years earlier. Perhaps CN hadn’t fully assessed them yet). It would be another two years before CN ordered their first 710G-engined SD60F units (5504+).
