<title>Comments on: New VIA power? In 1989 that meant more modern HEP-equipped 3000 horsepower F40PH-2D locomotives! At the time a third order of units were being cranked out by GMD London for VIA (6430-6458), and one of which, VIA 6455 (built mid-1989) leads 6423 (from the second order, 6420-6429, built in 1987) on train #73 as they climb the grade at Mile 1 of CN&#8217;s Dundas Sub passing some of the leftover fall foliage trackside. A steam generator car and 11 of the blue and yellow fleet of ex-CN passenger cars make up the consist, painted to match the old F-unit fleet that VIA ran since startup.
