Comments on: New York Central GP9 6032 is shown on CN’s Oakville Sub at Port Credit, likely working on the CP/TH&B Toronto-Hamilton “Starlight” that had trackage rights over CN from Canpa to Hamilton West. Note the Automatic Train Control (ATC) “shoe” on the second axle for operation over Welland to Buffalo trackage. NYC 6032 was one of the Canadian-built GMD units assigned to NYC’s Canada Southern (CASO) operations, and would continue operating over the same territory under successors Penn Central and Conrail as their 7432. It was retired and sold to the Ashland Railway (ASRY), and became their 32.

If you have seen ” numerous ” shots of NYC power beyond Hamilton, could you point us to the source please ? (( and I mean prior to April 1966 )).
I’m pretty sure TH&B crews weren’t qualified on the Oakville Sub., only CPR.

mercer, I have seen numerous shot of NYC power beyond Hamilton..even in later year on the starlight and the re-incarnation of the starlight for PC and CR.

It was most likely TH&B crews engineering this train.

This doesn’t seem correct to me. The only reason there could be NYC power beyond Hamilton is if the CPR engines for one of the passenger trains had broken down.
But given these 2 are freight-only GP9′s, even that scenario seems precarious.
IF this indeed is Port Credit, it has to be a One-time Only event and therefore a cherished image. But a little more detail would be great.
